Changes to the electricity connection
Read the instructions for making changes to your electricity connection, and request the changes using the provided forms. If needed, you can also obtain further information from our connection experts at liittymat@keravanenergia.fi or by calling 09 5849 5526.
When an electricity connection requires modification
When connecting to the electricity grid, the size of the connection is determined—that is, the rating of the main fuses (in amperes, A) for the property being connected. Sometimes, as a property’s electricity consumption needs change, the connection size may become either too small or too large, necessitating an adjustment. In practical terms, increasing the connection size means upgrading the main fuses.

Changing the size of the electricity connection
The size of an electricity connection needs to be increased when electricity consumption rises significantly—for example, due to electric vehicle charging or a change in the heating method. In practice, increasing the connection size means upgrading the main fuses.
First, consult your electrical contractor to determine the connection size that meets your needs. The contractor will verify the adequacy of the service connection cable and ensure that your electrical equipment—such as the main distribution board—is suitable for the connection upgrade.
The contractor is also responsible for replacing the main fuses and fuse bases. They will notify the energy company of the change using the general information form.
For electrical connection upgrades, the general information form must be submitted via the OmaLiittymä service. After placing the order, the customer must invite their electrical contractor to the OmaLiittymä service by providing the contractor’s email address.
Request a change to the size of your electricity connection using the form at this link, once you have consulted with your electrical contractor. Processing the request takes approximately three weeks, after which you will receive a connection agreement to sign.
In some cases, increasing the size of a connection may also require reinforcement of the electricity network. Our connection experts can determine whether an increase requires any work on the electricity network: liittymat@keravanenergia.fi and (09) 5849 5526 (weekdays 9:00–14:00).
For connection to the electricity network, we charge a connection fee in accordance with our connection price list; this fee covers the costs of constructing the network. If the main fuse size is increased, the customer pays an additional connection fee equal to the difference between the relevant connection fee categories. In addition, where applicable, we charge for connection and metering work in accordance with our service price list.
Upgrading the connection step by step:
First, discuss upgrading your connection with your electrical contractor before ordering the change from us. The contractor is best placed to determine the need for an upgrade. Check with the contractor whether your existing service cable is sufficient and if any modifications to your electrical system are required.
Based on your order, we will send you a new connection agreement, which will indicate the delivery timeline. Please return the signed agreement to us. If any corrections are needed, please contact our connection services team via email at liittymat@keravanenergia.fi or by calling (09) 5849 5526 (weekdays from 9:00 to 14:00). If the electricity network requires reinforcement, we will begin the work once we have received the signed connection agreement.
NOTE! Your electrical contractor must not increase the fuse rating until we have granted permission to do so! Increasing the fuse rating without prior permission may result in a fault situation for which the customer will be billed.
Teemme sähköjen kytkennän kahden viikon kuluessa tilauksesta. The contractor also performs the necessary inspections before the connection to the electricity grid. Following this, your contractor will request the electrical connection from us using a general information form (in Finnish). We will carry out the connection within two weeks of receiving the request.
Your electrical contractor will carry out any necessary modifications to your electrical installation.
We will send your electrical contractor a copy of the general information form they submitted, via email.
Request a change to the size of your electricity connection
You can also use this form to request the restoration of an electricity connection from a suspended state.

Changing the transmission product, i.e., the tariff
- The electricity transmission product, or tariff, indicates the metering method used for your property. This method determines how we bill for charges related to electricity transmission. Our transmission product options include general, time-of-use, seasonal, and power-based transmission. You can change your transmission product once a year.
- A change might be appropriate if, for example, your electricity consumption and the timing of that consumption change due to a switch in heating systems.
Maintenance of an electricity connection
Properties such as old houses with an uncertain future use are often placed in maintenance status. Maintaining the electricity connection preserves its value and keeps the connection agreement in force. A condition for switching to maintenance status is that we remove the electricity meter from the site. Reconnecting a connection currently in maintenance status to the grid is treated the same way as establishing a new connection, so please contact us in good time when you need electricity again.
A monthly fee, in accordance with the schedule of service charges, is payable for the maintenance of an electricity connection. Open the service fee price list here.
Termination of an electricity connection
If you no longer require electricity for your property or plot, you can request the dismantling of your electricity connection; we will then remove the service line and the electricity meter. Upon dismantling the connection, we will refund any eligible portion of the connection fee, minus the costs incurred from the dismantling process.
Transferring the electricity connection to the new owner’s name
An electricity connection is considered movable property, which typically transfers along with the property when ownership changes. Please note that the connection does not transfer to the new owner of the property automatically.
Ensure the change of ownership is documented by including it in the real estate deed of sale or in a separate transfer document. The deed of sale can also be signed electronically via the National Land Survey of Finland’s online real estate transaction service at www.kiinteistoasiat.fi. Please also notify us of the transfer of the connection as soon as possible following the real estate transaction, as we do not automatically receive information from the deed of sale. Please note that the transfer of the connection does not include the transfer of the electricity supply contract; the new owner must also enter into their own electricity sales agreement.
Please be aware that if you cannot provide written documentation confirming the transfer of the connection to your ownership, we may terminate the connection agreement. In such a case, you would be required to enter into a new connection agreement and pay the connection fee as specified in our price list.
