Frequently asked questions about electricity connections and the electricity grid
To start the electricity supply, the customer must enter into a connection agreement and an electricity contract.
An electricity connection is movable property that generally transfers along with the sale when the property changes hands. Please note that the connection does not transfer to the new owner automatically. The easiest way to handle this is to mention the transfer in the property deed or in a separate transfer agreement. You can request the transfer of the electricity connection via an online form.
The main fuse determines the size of the customer’s electricity connection—that is, the amount of electricity they can draw from the grid at one time. The basic fee for electricity transmission is based on the fuse size. The fuse size is primarily determined by the property’s heating method.
You can increase or decrease the size of your connection by contacting our connection service via email at liittymat@keravanenergia.fi or by calling 09-584 95528, or you can request a size change at OmaLiittymä portal.
Customers may replace main fuses located in the main distribution board inside the property themselves, provided they follow electrical safety guidelines. Remember to cut off the power by turning the main switch to the 0 position before replacing a fuse. Instructions for replacing main fuses yourself are available by calling our fault reporting number at 020 690 590.
Main fuses located in the enclosure on the building’s exterior wall (at the end of the overhead line) may only be replaced by an electrical professional. Main fuses located in a utility pole or distribution cabinet may only be replaced by an on-duty technician from the Kerava Energia companies. You can find more information about fuses here.
Our tariff options are general, time-of-use, seasonal, and power-based transmission tariffs. A change might be worth considering if, for example, your electricity consumption and the timing of that consumption change due to a switch in heating method. The most convenient way to change your tariff is at OmaLiittymä portal.
We offer assistance with lowering power lines when a tree to be felled or pruned poses a risk of damaging the lines, or when the tree feller you have hired faces a risk of electrical accidents. You must hire a professional logger separately for the actual tree felling. We recommend requesting this service well in advance, preferably at least two weeks before the desired date. The service is free of charge and is provided within our distribution area by Uudenmaan Verkonrakennus Oy.
You can request the service by contacting Uudenmaan Verkonrakennus Oy at 040 668 1800 or via email at info@uvr.fi.
