Connecting the electricity

A valid electricity supply contract is required to connect the electricity. If you have selected an electricity supplier through a competitive process, we will connect the electricity once we receive notification of the contract from your supplier. Connection is free of charge provided the order is placed no later than 3:00 PM on the preceding business day. Connections are carried out on weekdays between 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM. Connections performed outside these hours are subject to a fee in accordance with the service fee pricing. Same-day connection is possible but incurs a fee. In such cases, please contact our customer service by phone.

Important safety information regarding the connection

Once we receive information about the moving date from your electricity retailer, we will confirm the electricity connection date via text message. We will not send a separate notification once the power has been connected. As the connection is performed remotely or by a technician at the electricity meter, we cannot detect potential hazards caused by electrical appliances left switched on at the premises. To ensure a safe connection, please verify in advance that no electrical appliances posing a fire risk are left switched on at the property on the scheduled connection date. Such hazards could arise, for example, from a sauna heater or stove left on while the power was disconnected.

Disconnecting the electricity

To prevent potential hazards when connecting the electricity, we recommend turning off the power using the apartment’s main switch when moving out of an apartment building unit. This ensures that the connection process is safe for the next resident. In detached houses, the power should be turned off using the button on the electricity meter. If the power is cut via the main switch, the electricity meter also loses power, making remote reconnection impossible.

Disconnection and reconnection of electricity due to unpaid bills

We will suspend the electricity supply if the electricity user has materially failed to make payments or has otherwise materially breached their contractual obligations. Unpaid invoices are referred to debt collection following a payment reminder. Our debt collection partner is Ropo Suomi Oy. Once an invoice has been referred to debt collection, all inquiries regarding the invoice must be directed to Ropo.

What to do?

If your electricity has been cut off due to unpaid bills, you can get it turned back on by doing the following:

  • Once you have made all payments, please contact Ropo to have your electricity reconnected. If you do not specifically request reconnection, it may take several business days for the power to be turned back on.
  • Pay your outstanding overdue bills as well as the disconnection and reconnection fees.
  • Also, pay any other overdue bills from Keravan Energia or Sipoon Energia that have not yet been referred for debt collection. You can find these in the OmaSähkö service.
  • If we have to disconnect your electricity, we reserve the right to request a security deposit before reconnecting the supply. For inquiries regarding the security deposit, please contact luotonvalvonta@keoy.fi.
  • Payments must be settled with Ropo, either by paying the invoices you received or via their online service.

If the electricity supply has been disconnected at the request of another electricity supplier, the outstanding payments are made to them. Once the payment is received, the electricity supplier contacts us to request the reconnection of the electricity.

By requesting the connection, you also confirm that you have ensured connection safety in accordance with the instructions above.
